Boston-IA is an organization of information architects, information designers, web designers, visual designers, usability specialists, educators, technical communicators, and other internet professionals concerned about the usability and accessibility of electronic media.
What does IA stand for? It could stand for "information architecture", but it also stands for "internet accessibility".
We want to make accessibility mainstream. We believe that information architecture means making things clear for people, and that internet accessibility means making things available.
Many people define accessibility as only making information available for people with disabilities, but we believe that accessibility means everyone can access and find the information they need.
"This is one of the better accessible sites I have seen."
"I am a webmaster for a Section 508 compliant government intranet and have reviewed over 700 sites linked to our intranet for 508 compliance since August 2001.
"You have avoided the common accessibility mistakes that appear even on other accessibility webs— Nice job!"

We believe in the principles of universal design, and we make every attempt to exclude no one. The same techniques that work for people who are disabled improve information delivery for everyone.
